RELIVING BITS OF PAST PERFORMANCES OF JAWS

1995-96 |
|
| The society has been constituted for working for those mute sufferers who could not fight for their own rights in June. | |
| During this period the society maintained a low profile. basically its functions were towards the West Singhbhum.its activities never appeared in the newspapers. However the society treated five cattle and eight dogs of the area with its limited capacity. | |

1996-97 |
|
| With the collaboration of Animal Welfare Board of India, the society convened a mass communication programme at the Nature Care Centre, Tata steel Zoological Garden , in September- October. Barely 15 members attended the venture. The participants were entrusted with a booklet of animal laws issued by Animal Welfare Laws of India. | |
| Efforts mode for the generation of compassion towards the stray animals by mass communications and convention of awareness programme in the various parts of the city. | |
| Treated 30 animals , mostly stray by the JAWS veterinarians in thier respective Animal Husbandry Clinics located in different areas. | |
| 15 - 20 people were converted to vegetarians,as the promotion of vegetarianism is the society's important objective. | |

1997 - 98 |

| Mass awareness programme conducted in Tata Zoo on animal care and human health.The senior officials of Tisco viz. - Mr. B. N. Choudhary, AGM(Town srevice), Dr. Anil Kumar, DM(PH) & Mr. M.S. Jain attended the ceremony. | |
| One pachyderm having an acute abcess in the right hip joint on the back leg got treated by the society at the Tisco Veterinary Hospital. | |
| Fodder was sent to the Deer Breeding Centre, Dalma Sanctuary to save the lives of the hungered species under SAVE DEER CAMPAIGN. | |
| To commemorate 50 years of the nation's independence , 10 caged birds were confiscated from the Tata Zoo Campus. | |
| 5 accident prone cows were taken to Jugsalai Goushala after the administration of first-aid and with the aid of the police. | |
| Programme on animal care and handling and human hygiene were organized in RM-1 and RTS dept. of Tata Steel. | |
| The society also showe human concern by donating to the relief fund for the rehabilitation of the flood hit areas of the steel city. | |
| 100 people were converted into vegetarians. | |
| Last year monkey menace became frequent in the city. The society taking a serious note of it and by using the PA system it announced the way of tackling it. Again the same was repeated while the pachyderms of Dalma created panic in Mango and claimed one human life. | |

1998 - 99 |

| The society commemorated the first annual function in April at Tata Zoo.First C. S. Jha memorial JIV BANDHU award was conferred to Ms. Sadhana Roy of Baridih worker's Flats for her exemplary role in the protection of stray canines. | |
|
|
The society obtained a life membership of the leading animal welfare organizations People for Animals vide membership no. BHR 000487.The society is keeping in touch with the WWF, in defense of animals Mumbai,Jiv Daya Mandal, Rajasthan and kindness to animals. Moreover it has donated 1000 Rs. to WWf. Presently it is in the position of getting an affiliation from the Animal Welfare Board of India. |

The society launches a signatures campaign under SAVE TIGER PROJECT. Three thousand signatures were handed over to the Prime Minister. |

The society also issued legal notices to the illegal abattoirs and the illegal bird traders of Sakchi. Firstly a letter issued to the concerned authorities , subsequently a complaint case was registered in the CJM court. |

The society alo initiated action on the blind pachyderm issue. While the species was found loitering in Gamharia.We tried to draw the attention of the chief conservator of the forest, Chaibasa. Attention of the concerned ministry was also drawn. Unfortunately the intervention of the ministry was too late and the species died of electrocution while on the way to Birsa Zoological Garden , Ormajhi. |

The society wrote a letter to the ministry of Law and Justice and Human resource Dvelopment , UGC for the incitation of the Animal laws in the syllabus of LLB/LLM. |

Free animal health care camp was started from August 9 Sunday. The camp was organized only on Sundays between 4 - 6 pm. |

1999 - 2000 |

Organized a seminar on "Role of media in Animal Welfare on 24th Jan, Central Worker Education Center, Sakchi. |

|
Matter of docking of the tails of dogs by Kennel Club of India was raised and letter written to the President of Inda to intervene on this issue. |
|
|
Society celebrated Ahimsa Diwas to create kindness among the people towards the destitute animals. |
|
|
Small hoarding were erected in different localities of Jamshedpur giving message about Animal Welfare. |
|
|
Started mobile veterinary ambulance services from 27th July '99 for helping the animals. |
|
|
Celebrated World's Bulls Day on 27th July and inspected Tatanagar Goushala to see to the condition of the bulls. |
|
|
Got a letter of appreciation from the District Animal Husbandry oficer, East Singhbhum. |
|

More than 200 cows, 4 bulls, 3 monkeys, 10 goats , 8 stray dogs, 8 ders, 1 crane, 1 cat, 2 horses, 1 snake wee treated. |

25 citizens were presented certificate of excellence on animal welfare and second C. S. Jha JIV BANDHU award was conferred to Sri Tatanagar Goushala. |

The issue of rampant dogs killing by the Public Health department of Tata Steel were raised to national as well as international levels and the illegal practice was stopped. |

Free animal health check up camp was held in the village Huddu, in kandra , an area of west Singhbhum. |

Regular publication of the in-house journal Jiv Bandhu(hindi) and the Jiv Bandhu (english) for the creation of awareness among the citizens for the noble cause. |

On 8th Nov 2001 we have seized 5 snakes from the snakes charmers and released them in the wild. |
